Meet the founders

Two software developers, one handmade shop

We're a husband-and-wife team of software developers who wanted to build something slower and more lasting than another app: a women-led shop of healthy, Ayurvedic, handmade products that are plastic-free, reusable and kinder to the planet.

By day we write code. The rest of the time we work with artisan families in India — coppersmiths, Pichwai painters, white metal craftsmen and embroiderers — so the gifts you give are made by real hands, not a factory line. The Artisan Gift Shop is how we bring that craft, and that care, to celebrations across Canada and the USA.

Why we started

Gifts should be as thoughtful as the moments they celebrate

The shop began at a kitchen table in Ontario with a stack of wedding invitations and one frustrating question: why is it so hard to find a return gift that actually means something? Everything was either mass-produced plastic or an imported "handicraft" that had never met an artisan's hands.

So we went back to the source — the coppersmith families of Uttar Pradesh, the Pichwai painters of Nathdwara, the white metal craftsmen of Rajasthan and the embroiderers who still stitch potlis one bead at a time. We asked them to make pieces for the celebrations of the Indian diaspora in Canada and the USA. They said yes. This shop is the result.

How we choose to live

Plastic-free. Less waste. Made to be used again.

We are believers in less waste and a cleaner home. That is why we sell plastic-free, reusable, environmentally safer pieces — copper bottles you refill every morning, metal jars that last for years, baskets and potlis you can gift again instead of throwing away.

We choose materials we are happy to put in our own kitchen: no single-use plastic, no disposable drinkware, nothing we would not want our families using every day. For us, that is a healthier, more Ayurvedic way to live — and a quieter way to care for the earth.

Copper & wellness

Hammered from 99% pure copper

Our jugs, bottles and tumblers are shaped and hammered by hand, then finished with lids, engraving and hand-painted motifs. Copper has been used for storing water in Ayurveda for thousands of years — ours is made to be used every single morning.

Decor & keepsakes

Pichwai art, painted stroke by stroke

Pichwai is a 400-year-old devotional painting tradition from Nathdwara, Rajasthan — lotuses, cows and sacred groves rendered in jewel tones. Our artists bring it onto metal storage jars with crystal knobs, so a centuries-old art form lives on a modern shelf.
